Photography - The Art
My passion of photography goes back all the way to my childhood when I was first introduced to the 35mm camera. The ability to capture an image was fascinating.
I had my first 35mm camera (Minolta) and started learning the art of photography - these cameras were fully manual and you had to know what settings to use and compose your picture before you took the picture. The results were not available until you developed the film and processed the prints in the dark room.
Then, over time, the digital camera’s came out, and picture taking got a lot easier and cheaper. The technology advanced very quickly and before we knew it, the camera’s got easier and all the phone’s had camera’s in them. Everybody was now taking pictures - and lots of pictures.
Somehow, the art in the photography got lost - camera’s decided for you what was the best shot and if you were smiling or not and if you shut your eyes!
I too got caught up in this - taking lots of pictures and using the good ones and filing the ones that I did not need.
It was not until we took that Alaska vacation, that my interest in photography picked up again - unfortunately, it happened after the trip. So I decided to get back into the art of photography. I started with the podcasts from National Geography and The Art of Photography by Ted Forbes. This got me thinking about photography in a different way… So, I decided to get back into photography, and hence, that’s where the name comes from - On2Photography.
I am not sure how I intend to use this blog or the website yet - I hope to research and learn, and come up with my style of photography and I look forward to sharing these tips and pictures - and at the same time, learn from others who are also doing the same.
